Work for Tuesday, September 29th
Weekend Thoughts!
Just wanted to say thank you to all the parents of all the students in my class. It has been an amazing start to the school year, and that could not have happened unless I had the support of all of you. I urge you to get in touch with the school or me directly if you have any sort of concerns. It is a challenging time and your comfort level with your sons and daughters at our school is paramount. There is no question too big or small that won’t be answered fully and with the respect it deserves. Personally, my number is 204-724-5734. This may come in handy down the road if we have any other challenges that we need to, and will, overcome. Again, thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Mr. Robert Clark
Mid-Week
Hi to everyone out there! Hope you are having a great week so far. Most of our forms are in for personal information and inoculations. Please get them in asap. Would like to get these out of the way for obvious reasons.
Thank you patrols for doing a bang up job out on the busy corners and keeping our students and pedestrians safe. It is very appreciated.
Artwork and novel study assignments are going along nicely. “The Trail” is a great book, and students and parents are more than welcome to listen to it on line. Our formal assignment for it will start next week. Try to get as much of the reading in as possible (at least Chapter 12 by Monday).
Homework: Language Power-page 4 for Monday
Spelling- Organizing and Discovering Patterns (Chapter 1) -Thursday
Novel Study- Chapter 12 reading-by Monday
Thanks for keeping up with the COVID considerations both at home and at school. It is a benefit to all of us and much appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Mr. Clark
Weekend Math
Middle of the week.
Hope all is going well in our homes! Things at school are settling in and routines are being set for good progress. I am really enjoying getting to know the students and understanding the way they address work and challenges. I feel very fortunate to have a class like this. They are all empathetic individuals, and this goes a long way in having a kind and productive class.
Notes:
- Language Power homework–page 1 for Friday.
- Vocabulary homework–page 7 for Tuesday.
- Place Value Math booklet–all pages due for Monday.
- Art-Idiom posters are due for Tuesday.
- Please hand in Inoculation forms for needles asap.
We will be starting a novel called “The Trail” next week. Audio chapters are available on the blog if you would like to hear Mr. Clark’s voice as you read along.
We are working through our “Taking the West” booklet in Social Studies and playing the “Chain Game” to explore Canadian geographical places. Ask your kids about it. Maybe you can play at home. You don’t need any special equipment to do so. Just a little “grey matter”. lol
Students in grade 6 are doing a great job so far at their patrolling and recycling jobs. Very responsible!
All of the students are developing their own blogs and are currently working on some assignments. Please subscribe by email to keep up with any of my posts and information about the class.
Finally, all our students are doing an excellent job dealing with the sanitizing, spacing, and mask wearing at the school. I know it is trying at times, but they recognize the importance of keeping this up for as long as we have to. Good on them!
Thank you for your support!
Mr. Robert Clark
PS Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns.
Friday-End of Week One!
Again, thanks to all the parents and students that contributed to making this a successful, safe, and satisfying first week. Just a couple of notes heading into the weekend.
- Homework- Finish to the middle of page 4 in vocabulary. This is the end of Word List 1. Work ahead if you would like.
- Homework- Finish to the end of the fourth row on the backside of the math multiplication review sheet. Most students were done and were given a lot of class time to complete this much material.
- I gave out the inoculation forms for students to take home and for parents to fill in and hand in to the school. The dates of the needles are halfway down the first page. Get in touch with me if you have any questions.
- There is just one more student’s Personal Info Sheet to hand in. Please have it in by Monday. You know who you are! lol
- Patrols are starting to go out next week. I will definitely go out with them and train them. I have the schedules for patrolling until Christmas time done. I will give them out, and the schedule will also be posted on the CC Website’s front page.
- If parents have extra headphones and flash drives, these will certainly be helpful for computer and blog assignments and activities.
Thank you so much for your support and enjoy your weekend!
Mr. Clark
Fabulous First Day!
I would like to start off by thanking parents for all the preparedness and proactivity that you provided for your sons and daughters coming into the school this morning. I know it was not easy, but it could not have gone smoother with such a mature and adaptive bunch of students. Well done!
Notes:
- I am coming up with a patrol list of students who will be helping out on the corners for the start of next week. This will be for the town students’ involvement only. The bus students will have some recycling jobs to do in school during each week.
- The personal information forms were sent home in backpacks. Could parents check these over, make any changes if necessary, sign the bottom, and return to me as soon as possible; hopefully by Friday. The ladies in the office need to update their records.
- The students and I will be going over our classroom blogs in the next couple days to gain insight into what they can do and what information they will provide. The classroom blogs also have a subscribe by email feature for parents down the right hand side. If you sign up, you will receive any post about school related items that I send out. I sent some subscriptions out to you if I had an email for you. If it is confusing, please phone or text, and I can talk you through.
- I will leave it at that for today. More to come tomorrow!
Thanks sincerely,
Mr. Bob Clark
