Last Week before Holiday Break

I am sure I will probably add a few more posts this week, but a couple notes that come to mind are;

  1. Please sign up for the swimming on this Friday on Invite Right and bring in your $5. We are 10/20 s0 far!
  2. Social Studies test #3-Ordeal by Fire is on Thursday. Notes will be on the blog if you need them.
  3. The new patrol schedule for Winter 2020 is here on the blog. Look for the page as you scroll down the right side of the page. I have also given each patrol 2 copies of the schedule to take home or put in locker as well.
  4. Locker clean up will be on Friday for things the students can take home.
  5. We are going over to RJ Waugh today to watch the Christmas Concert rehearsal at 1:15.
  6. Thank you so much for your support in the last four months. It is very appreciated. Enjoy your holiday break.

Sincerely,

Mr. Robert Clark

First Day of Bake Sale

Thank you to all that have made items or charitable donations to our bake sale. On day 1, we made $190 for Xmas Cheer. Fantastic! We are going to sell again today at lunch because we have lots of stock left. I think $250 is well within our reach. All the kids in both grade 6 classes have pitched in a hand to make this sale very special and successful!

Well done!

Mr. Clark and Mrs. Coates

Couple of Reminders!

Hi all!

Just touching base.

1) Tomorrow is our bake sale with Mrs. Coates’ class for Xmas Cheer. Thanks to all for giving what they can.

2) Vocabulary Chapter 3 test is on Friday. We did a practice test today to get ready for the real thing.👍 I know a previous blog mentioned the test might be Thursday, but it will be Friday. Sorry for any confusion.😕 Also, it only covers Chapter 3 (Word Lists 7-9).

3) The forecasted temperature for tomorrow morning is -42•C. Patrollers will definitely not go out in the morning, and we will re-assess during the day for after school but it is looking doubtful as well. Better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for your support,

Mr. Clark

Swimming for Next Friday (Dec. 20th)

Dear parents,

The Invite Right for the year end swimming event at the Sportsplex in Brandon is now up on the Carberry Collegiate main webpage.

  1. Hit on the “Invite Right” link.
  2.  Scroll down and hit on the “6BC Swimming” link.
  3.  Read and fill in all information, paying special attention to the color of wrist band your son or daughter will wear in the pool based on his or her swimming level (explained on page). If you are unaware of the MET #, look at the front of your son or daughter’s report card or contact Mrs. Rowley at the Carberry Collegiate front office.
  4. Hit the Green Register button when completed. All starred(*) information areas need to be completed before registration can be activated.
  5.  Bring $5 to Mr. Clark to pay for the swim.

Hope this helps out in the process.

Sincerely,

Mr. Bob Clark

Weeks of Dec. 9 to Dec. 20

Hi parents and students,

Just a heads up about a few things in the next two weeks before the Xmas break.

  1. We are having a grade 6 bake sale on Wednesday, December 11th. to support Xmas Cheer in our community. We are hoping that each child, and/or, his/her family, could make something for the sale that we could sell to make approximately $3-4/ student. That would allow us to make around $60-80 to purchase gifts for one or two needy children in our community at Xmas. We would really like baking, but if you run out of time or ingredients, a toonie or two will suffice by Wednesday. The students put out tables and try to sell their baking themselves. Thank you.
  2.  There will be a vocabulary test at the end of this week based on the words from wordlists 1-9. Thursday is the projected date. Students need to know what the terms mean and how to use them in a sentence.
  3. There will be the #3-Ordeal by Fire test in SS during the final week of school before Xmas. Date pending. Please keep going over your booklets. Test answers will be posted a couple days before the test for emergency purposes. lol
  4.  The students will be curling Tuesday and Thursday of this week in Phys. Ed. They are encouraged to bring their own curling stuff if they like. It will help to have as many brooms as possible. Thanks!
  5. Thanks to all parents who came out for Student Lead Conferences. Our attendance was perfect! It was great to see you supporting all the great work your kids have done.
  6. Patrol attendance has been great. The current string of mild weather has helped, but what a commitment! January to March schedules will be going out soon.
  7. Oral Presentations (Demonstrations) have begun and will be going on during the next two weeks. Check the “December Presentations” page on the right hand side of the blog to confirm your presentation date.
  8. As a final 2019 school activity, like last year, we will be going to the Sportsplex on the last day (Fri., December 20th) to swim in the pool. The buses and pool have been booked. The fee will be small, and the permission slips to see where they can swim in the pool will be coming out soon. Should be fun. Parents are welcome to come and watch provided they take their own transportation.
  9. On the same day as the swim, we will be having our “Pizza Books” pizza party at lunch before we get on the bus. This is to celebrate all the reading they have been doing. Make sure you get your reading sheets in! Kids need to bring their own beverages, but pizza is provided.

Thank you again for all your support on behalf of the students and myself!

Mr. Bob Clark
